EMI MUSIC DEBUTS FIRST iTUNES PASS WITH DEPECHE MODE U.S. FANS TO HAVE ACCESS TO NEW AND EXCLUSIVE SINGLES, REMIXES, VIDEO AND OTHER CONTENT OVER COMING WEEKS INCLUDES DEPECHE MODE’S UPCOMING 12TH STUDIO ALBUM, “SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE,” PLUS ADDITIONAL EXCLUSIVE CONTENT RELEASED ON iTUNES

EMI Music today announced the debut of the first iTunes Pass with groundbreaking electro legends Depeche Mode. With iTunes Pass, music fans can get new and exclusive singles, remixes, video and other content from their favorite artists over a set period of time, delivered to their libraries as soon as they’re available.

The first iTunes Pass debuts today in conjunction with Depeche Mode’s forthcoming 12th studio album, “Sounds of the Universe,” to be released on April 21 in the US. Fans who sign up starting today get the alternative/dance pioneers’ new single, “Wrong,” as well as the Black Light Odyssey Dub Remix of the new track “Oh Well.” They will also receive the new album on its street date plus great music and video exclusives before and after the album’s release over the next fifteen weeks. The Depeche Mode iTunes Pass can be purchased starting today for $18.99.

“As we work to better understand music consumers and help create stronger connections between fans and artists, we are pleased to work with Apple and Depeche Mode to kick off iTunes Pass,” said Ronn Werre, president, Music Services for EMI Music. “We think it’s a great new platform that will change the way artists engage with their audiences and also a powerful new way for us to build value for our artists’ music. And with iTunes Pass, Depeche Mode are once again demonstrating that they are true trailblazers and innovators when it comes to creating amazing music and connecting with their fans.”

“iTunes Pass is a great way for artists to give exclusive music and video, on their own schedule, directly to their fans.” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “iTunes customers are going to love getting additional content directly from their favorite artists right when they make it available.”

“The relationship between Depeche Mode and their fans has always been our top priority,” said the band’s manager, Jonathan Kessler. “We are thrilled to be the first to participate with Apple in giving fans the kind of deep musical experience they expect from Depeche Mode.”

Today also marks the launch of the worldwide iTunes album pre-order for “Sounds of the Universe.”

As one of the most influential bands of the post-punk era with global sales in excess of 100 million, Depeche Mode belongs to a select premier league of supergroups who have survived from the early 1980s with their ideals, creative vision and core members intact. Formed in 1981, Depeche Mode – Martin Gore, Dave Gahan and Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher – continue to win critical and commercial acclaim across the world both in the studio and on the road. All of the band’s 11 studio albums have reached the Top Ten in not only the UK and USA but 20 plus countries around the world including Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, and Belgium. Since their inception, Depeche Mode’s live shows continue to be a must-see attraction, with the group playing to 2.8 million people across 31 countries on their last tour alone.

King Khan and The Shrines announce additional US tour dates for April/May | King Khan and The Shrines to grace us with their presence once again on a tour of the US and a stop at SXSW

“What Is?!” is finally getting a proper domestic release (Vice, April 21st), so the fabulous, mesmerizing, awe-inspiring King Khan and The Shrines are once again returning to our shores, bringing their frantic brand of psychedelic soul insanity to the youth of America. This tour will take them through the heart of the south, SXSW, and they’ve expanded their schedule to take them through the east and west coasts in April and May, Including a stop at the Sasquatch festival in the heart of Washington state. The band left many folks scratching their heads, picking their jaws up off the floor, and tearing up dollar bills as a sign of unity after their first tour of the US last year after mindblowers at the Pitchfork festival and dates all across the country. Most didn’t even know what hit them. King Khan and The Shrines are doing it all over again, and everyone will be thankful they did. Tour dates belowŠ..

The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s invite you to take an intimate look into the making of our new record It’s Blitz! One man armed with a camera documenting our day to day recording activities, from the mundane to the not so mundane. There’s never been a more candid portrait of us “doing our thing” as the following series of teasers, for the visual journey into our sonic crusade, that we call SNAKESWEAT. Up first, tender moments with the inscrutable Nick Zinner.

THE BLUE AEROPLANES ANNOUNCE APPEARANCE AT SxSW Exciting debut of new material planned

The Blue Aeroplanes hit the US shores for the first time in 13 years with appearances at South by Southwest Music and Media Conference. A long time part of the Bristol, England, music scene that spawned great bands like Massive Attack, Portishead, and Tricky, the Aeroplanes hold a special place in the history of British pop music. The current schedule includes two gigs with more to be announced.

Thursday, March 19
Official South by SouthWest Showcase
Elysium ? 7th & Red River
8pm

Saturday, March 21
Yard Dog Gallery Party
1510 S. Congress
6pm

With a new album in the can, When Things Are Good, sounding like a collision between the Hold Steady, Lou Reed with a British accent and Bright Eyes, the Aeroplanes are heading to Austin with their greatest statement of intent yet. The new material includes the monstrous punk-pop soon-to-be classic ?25 Kinds Of Love?, the funky, somehow Skynyrd-y groove of ?One World Passport? and deceptively jaunty Hollywood critique ?Great Movie Cliches.? The new repertoire also includes songs about novelists, cancer, 22 year-old Scarlett Johanssen lookalikes, birthday suits, LA hotel love, Paul Klee and the Devil.

When Things are Good, is the first album since 2006?s UK-only release Altitude, which was preceded by the critically acclaimed Swagger Deluxe. Having received critical accolades in the UK, Altitude was never released in the US, but the band is eager to play the songs for new fans, old fans and industry representatives alike and hopes to get the new material picked up on this side of the pond and elsewhere.

Formed in the early 1980?s from the ashes of notable Bristol post-punk poetic pranksters the Art Objects, the Blue Aeroplanes have ignored the dictates of fashion (or common sense) ever since with their unique blend of rock, pop, folk, poetry, dance, art and mayhem. Their classic first album Bop Art appeared on their own label in 1984 and was rapidly picked up by the Abstract (US) and Fire (UK) labels.

Tolerance and Spitting Out Miracles followed, spawning a huge UK and European following leading to the band?s 1990 signing to Ensign Records (Chrysalis in the US). Tours with REM (huge fans of the BA’s!) and the Church and the release of UK chart albums Swagger and Beatsongs followed, before a series of label issues forced the cancellation of their first American headlining tour, just as their trans-Atlantic pop cross-over single ?Yr Own World? was receiving strong airplay across the country.

Out of step with both Brit-Pop and grunge, the band signed to Beggars Banquet and released Life Model and Rough Music in 1994 and 1995. At this point, things became slightly murky and confused as a succession of incidents including death, madness, divorce and family problems (the Aeroplanes membership has involved more than a dozen siblings, almost certainly a record) resulted in leader Gerard Langley retreating to Bristol, England to write his definitive (though still unfinished) History Of Rock Music.

Back stronger than ever with one of the best line-ups yet, Langley and crew are ready to set alight the stages of Austin with some of their most vibrant material ever. Interviews are currently being scheduled.

NEVERENDER was the landmark event where for the first time ever, Coheed and Cambria performed all four of their concept albums in entirety over four nights. Now for the first time, on March 24th, you can re-witness this incredible journey through an amazing box set containing not only a DVD and audio CD of each night’s performance, but also a must-have photobook and documentary DVD that captures the journey leading to this spectacular event. In addition, the limited edition deluxe NEVERENDER: CHILDREN OF THE FENCE EDITION box set also contains a collectible dragonfly.

Good things take time. Originally slated for a March 3rd release, the band was determined to provide their fans with the ultimate package and decided to include additional content to the box set. On March 24th fans will see that it was well worth the wait.

** There are only 15,000 limited box sets available worldwide. **

** Fans can secure their copy now by clicking here **

NEVERENDER was originally intended to take place in New York and Los Angeles exclusively. The 15,000 tickets for these shows sold out entirely within an astounding three hours of going on sale. When the band saw how fast all 8 shows sold, they decided to extend the tour to include Chicago and London.

“NEVERENDER came about because we wanted to celebrate the end of the Coheed and Cambria saga in a special way,” says Coheed frontman Claudio Sanchez. “We wanted to come up with an idea that paid proper respect to this phase of our career, while at the same time gave our fans something truly unique and different. Many of these songs have never been played in front of an audience before so I think we’re going to be freaking out at the same time our fans are. It’s going to be a major challenge. We’re psyched our fans have been so loyal and amazing. We figured they deserved this.”

MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR NEW RECORD, MEAN EVERYTHING TO NOTHING IN STORES APRIL 21st

Favorite Gentlemen/Canvasback are excited to announce that Manchester Orchestra have confirmed headlining US Tour dates. The tour will kick off on April 21st in Nashville, TN and come to a close on June 4th in Orlando, FL. Joining them on these dates will be the band FUN (featuring ex-members of The Format and Anathallo) as well as Audrye Sessions and Winston Audio. Fan presale tickets for the tour go on sale February 27th and will be available to the public on March 5th here. The start of the tour marks the date of the band’s much anticipated second full-length release. Entitled Mean Everything To Nothing, the new record delivers the most honest sound the band has created to date. It’s everything that a rock record should be: raw, urgent and authentic.

Mean Everything To Nothing is the sound of a band coming into its own after spending 300 days on the road in support of their debut album, 2007’s I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child — a coming-of-age chronicle that expressed the then 19-year-old Hull’s hopes and aspirations. Virgin was an attention-getting shot across the bow that Rolling Stone praised as “expansive in scope and rich in texture, even while remaining lyrically focused on small moments of revelation” and the New York Times called “music to swoon to.” But whereas the songs on the debut were voiced by a fictional cast of characters that Hull created to obscure his own emotions, the intensely personal songs on Mean Everything To Nothing are all him. “I was able to be more honest when singing as someone else,” admits Hull, who is now 22. “Now I’ve realized, although it’s incredibly difficult, it’s more powerful to just say it myself.”

The band’s chemistry is palpable on Mean Everything To Nothing, perhaps because, after more than a year of touring with such artists as Kings of Leon, Brand New, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Say Anything, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, as well as performing their own headlining shows, Manchester Orchestra has become a powerful and well-oiled machine

A few weeks before kicking into these new dates, the band will be doing an exclusive one-off show at Mercury Lounge in New York City on March 4th to preview their new material. They’ll also be showcasing new tunes at SXSW.

On March 24th, The Devil Makes Three will release the “Aces and Twos” 7″ of two songs SIDE A: Aces and Twos and SIDE B: Help Yourself.
MARCH AND MAY TOUR DATES!

SXSW shows announced!

Download the first song off the record “All Hail” here!

NOTE: Some people are reporting that the album is called do right wrong, in fact it’s called DO WRONG RIGHT

BPM Magazine:
“From the musical gumbo pot of slide guitar, harmonica, and tenor banjo on their self-titled debut, it’s hard to believe that Devil aren’t from some backwoods swamp. Nevertheless, songs like “Old Number Seven” mix buoyant acoustic guitars and booze-drenched lyrics for a potent concoction of hangover music…With their raucous, energetic live set, the combination has definitely proven successful – all the while appealing to surprisingly disparate crowds.”

The Devil Makes Three quite possibly are the best band that you have never heard of. They have been constantly on tour, selling out dates across the country and in their neck of the woods on the West Coast drawing nearly capacity crowds nightly. This is all word of mouth. For the past 7 years, The Devil Makes Three have garnered fans the old school way, playing a city, making friends, conquering fans and moving on. When they hit the next town, venues are packed with folks that heard from a friend in a city that they’d been before.

Laced with elements of ragtime, country, folk and rockabilly, the critically praised, drummer-less trio – consisting of guitarist/frontman Pete Bernhard, stand-up bassist Lucia Turino and guitarist Cooper McBean – brings forth a genuine approach to acoustic music that is deeply steeped in rhythm and alive with three part harmonies which is pleasingly dissimilar to most other bands in modern music.

The Devil Makes Three had the goal of being “an acoustic band but to play our shows like a rock show,” the band changed notions of what acoustic music could be. Mixing styles from the ragtime and country music of the twenties and thirties to the rock-and-roll and punk music of their adolescence, The Devil Makes Three pushes the boundaries of acoustic music. Citing influences as varied as Steve Earle, the Reverend Gary Davis, Memphis Jug Band, and Django Reinhardt, the band combines tight vocal harmonies with idiot-savant finger style guitar to create an exciting and original sound. The end result is genuine blues music that thrives as much in a live setting as it does on The Devil Makes Three.

Aces and Twos” 7″ of two songs SIDE A: Aces and Twos and SIDE B: Help Yourself.

Both of these songs were recorded in Vermont last December and January and these versions are only available on this limited edition 500 quantity hand numbered 7″. We are not going to send any mp3s or anything online, and we will never press more than 500. These versions will only exist here, but there are new versions of the songs on the full length record.

The Devil Makes Three was conceived on an epic goat ride through the Himalayas in search of the elusive yeti. On this fateful journey the drummer was killed in a bone-crushing avalanche. In another turn of bad luck a wandering priest cursed the three to tour the United States endlessly with nothing to listen to but Ravi Shankar.

Before long the group lost touch with reality and were incarcerated for trying to over throw the government. While residing in the asylum for the criminally insane all members of the group received electro shock therapy in the hopes that it would make them normal productive members of society.

Strangely enough just the opposite happened and they were eventually released when some paper work went missing. The rest as they say is history….

  But seriously folks.

Quotes and Quotes:
Tripwire.com
“…not as polka-folk-psychedelic as anticipated, rather using elements of a grandiose orchestral experience and coupling it with acoustic guitar to produce a precise and melodic sound.”

SF Weekly
“The Devil Makes Three doesn’t have a drummer, but the band doesn’t need one….. a sound that combines bluegrass, old-time music, folk, rockabilly, and Piedmont blues and ragtime, all played with a blazing punk-rock attitude.”

LA Examiner
“Although they’re an acoustic outfit, their adrenaline-fueled mélange of ragtime, folk, blues and primitive country has won them fans of all ages from grandparents to grandkids.”

Flavorpill
Like the Violent Femmes before them, Santa Cruz’s the Devil Makes Three infuse their country-bluegrass swing with a raucous punk spirit….Devil Makes Three are a rare breed: wild traditionalists.”

songs:Illinois
“the gypsy-folk, pirate-camp and whiskey-whore sound of The Devil Makes Three is a welcome addition to this under-appreciated sub-genre.”

YEAH YEAH YEAHS are back back BACK! The New York City trio are poised to release the follow-up to 2006’s “Show Your Bones”, an album described by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke as “above all, a textural triumph, a quantum bounce from the brittle jitter and insect-chatter fuzz of the band’s 2001 Yeah Yeah Yeahs EP and 2003’s full-length Fever to Tell. It’s as if the Velvet Underground had gone from the black-crusted minimalism of their first album right to the pop bloom of their fourth, Loaded.” Overseas, NME called it “one of the albums of the decade.” “It’s Blitz!” will be released on 14th April on DGC/Interscope preceded a week prior by single “Zero” – a huge, electronic dance-floor anthem of a song. NOTHING else feels like this right now. “We’ve got a death grip on the adolescent way of feeling things,” says Karen O, touching on the track’s euphoric abandon.

“It’s Blitz!” was recorded with Nick Launay (producer of YYYs 2007 released “Is Is” EP) and longtime collaborator TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek. The album sessions took the city dwelling band from the snow-covered fields of rural Massachusetts and Long View Studios, to Sitek’s Staygold complex in Brooklyn before heading south to a studio in Tornillo in the Texan desert for further confinement and recording. “It’s Blitz!” signals both a glance backward and a step forward for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Guitarist Nick Zinner had brought along an old keyboard he bought on eBay to work with during the writing session not expecting it to end up on the album. However, the sounds of the vintage Arp were so right for the new songs that they found their way into the atmospheric washes of “Skeletons”, the disco wiggles of “Heads Will Roll”, and New Wave melodrama of “Soft Shock”. “Obviously, synths have been in rock music forever,” Zinner says. “But to us it feels new, which is all we really care about–that excitement.” The whole record has a new feeling of space and atmosphere, a new sonic dimension, if you will.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ incendiary live shows are the stuff of legend. They will make their eagerly anticipated live show return to the US in the very near future. Dates announced soon!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are Karen O (vocals), Nick Zinner (guitar, keyboard) and Brian Chase (drums).
