Washington, DC-based DARKEST HOUR have some amazing things lined up for 2010. They will be going out on tour with Dillinger Escape Plan, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, and Animals as Leaders. The tour starts March 11th in New York, NY and wraps up on April 13th in Pomona, CA. The tour will be making a stop in Austin, TX at the SXSW music festival, where the Darkest Hour guys will be performing at the Full Metal Texas Event with Iron Age, Born of Osiris, Upon a Burning Body, Your Demise and many others on March 18th.

DARKEST HOUR have also announced a headlining show with Periphery providing direct support. The show will take place on April 14th, in Mesa, AZ. After a couple days off DARKEST HOUR will be heading to Ohio on April 18th to play at a house party for the grand prize winner of last year’s ETERNAL GIVEAWAY contest.

DARKEST HOUR HEADLINING SHOW WITH PERIPHERY

NYC-based City Center aka Fred Thomas and Ryan Howard of Saturday Looks Good To Me (Polyvinyl, K Records) have announced a full DIY spring tour in support of their Quite Scientific Records debut, a limited edition EP called Spring St.

10 years after its inception, Saturday Looks Good To Me had tallied themselves a fully impressive resume: 6 full-length albums, a handful of EPs and 7″s, hundreds of shows all over the globe and a dedicated legion of supporters. In 2009, however, it was understandably time for something new. Thomas had left his native Michigan and was now living in New York City. He no longer had luxury of larger dwellings or soundproofed practice spaces. Instead, he had to adjust to the acceptable noise levels of apartment life…and thus with the addition of Howard, City Center came to be.

Having now already amassed 10 out-of-print releases on vinyl or CDR, and releasing their first proper full length on Type records, City Center’s Spring St. is a 12″ short-player that runs just over twenty minutes long and will be released both digitally and on stunning limited-run hand screened clear vinyl (image below). Only 500 copies of the vinyl are being sold, and it will be exclusively available at live shows, independent retailers, Insound and the Quite Scientific Webstore.

Where possible, the band will be playing all-ages shows at art-spaces and DIY venues in the hopes of recreating the fan-experience so many were able to be a part of with Saturday Looks Good to Me.

Following the recent release of The Raveonettes’ video for “Heart of Stone” and covers of the song by Dum Dum Girls and Amazing Baby, the band is offering up another take on material from their latest album In And Out Of Control with Suckers’ cover of “Boys Who Rape (Should All Be Destroyed)”. Premiering on Pitchfork.com today, the Brooklyn-based four-piece lend their dark orchestral touch to the song, turning the original ode into an elegy worthy of the equally heavy subject matter.
